Sandra K. (Drake) Jones

Sandra K. (Drake) Jones, 66, of Marion, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2018 surrounded by her loving family and friends after complications from open heart surgery. Sandy was born on August 9, 1951 in Camp Crowder, Missouri the daughter of Ronald Jr. and Mary Ann (Werner) Drake. Sandy married the love of her life, Michael J. Jones on September 7, 1973 in DeSoto, together they were married 44 years. Their lives were enjoyed in Miami, Florida and Albuquerque, New Mexico until retiring to Southern Illinois to be closer to family. Sandy attended grade school in Benton and middle school in Marion. She graduated in 1969 from Marion High School. After attending Illinois State University in Normal, Sandy managed for Zwicks Shoes. She retired from Federal Air Traffic Control System in 2009. In addition to her husband she is survived by: Brother – Mark Drake (Judith) Sister – Rhonda L. Vickers (Dal) Brother-in-law – Randall P. Jones (Allison) Nieces and nephews - Kimberly Boaz (Wayne), Jamie Drake, Sara Droke (Geoff), Jeff Drake, Kevin Drake (Lynette), Eric Drake (Leslie), Jason Vickers, Angela K. Joseph, Brent David Jones, Ryan Paul Jones, Mirah Jones, Abbiegayle Jones Special friends – Carol and Lowell Maxfield of Phoenix, Arizona, Jane Ann Williams and Cathy Carruthers Fur kids – Lulu and Lucy Funeral services will be Monday, January 29, 2018 at 12 p.m. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Gilbert Craig officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
