Sarah Anne Spencer

Sarah Anne Spencer, age 55, of Marion, passed away at 9:48pm on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Heartland Regional Medical Center due to complications from Covid 19.

Sarah was born in Peoria on August 12, 1965, the daughter of James Larry and Charlene Joanne (Hibbard) Wallace. She married Nick Spencer in Galesburg on February 23, 1985. He survives in Marion.

Sarah was a member of the Heartland Christian Church in Marion. She had worked as a secretary at the Marion High School and could be seen as the scorekeeper at almost every sporting event over the years.

Survivors include her husband- Nick Spencer of Marion

Son- Matthew Spencer of Marion

Daughter- Jessica Spencer of St. Louis, Missouri

Son- James Spencer of Marion

Daughter- Mera Spencer of Carbondale

Five Grandchildren- Natylee Yerk

     Xennon Spencer

     Joshua Spencer

     Charlee Spencer

     Madilynn Lueking

Brother- Steve Wallace of New Baden

Brother- Mark and Cherie Wallace of Sierra Vista, Arizona

Sister- Betty Wallace of Farmington

Niece- Meleighe and Ryan Sloss of Tucson, Arizona

Nephew- Justin and Malinda Wallace of O’Fallon

She was preceded in death by her father. Her mother, Charlene, passed away just two days after Sarah, also due to complications from Covid 19.

Joint funeral services will be held to celebrate the lives of Sarah and her mother, Charlene.  Private funeral services will be held at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Minister Greg Gibbs officiating. Private burial will follow at Palestine Cemetery in Omaha.

A time of visitation will be held for family and friends from 5-8pm on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.  Due to health concerns related to the COVID-19 virus, social distancing and the wearing of masks will be required.

For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the family or the Marion High School Athletic Fund. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home; 800 N Market Street; Marion, IL 62959.
