Sarah Gholson

Sarah Nadine Gholson, 91, of Port Orange, Florida formerly of Southern Illinois, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 8:30 P.M. at the Horizon Health Care Center in Daytona, Florida. Sarah was born July 6, 1918 in Franklin County the daughter of Leman & Nola Idella (Kimmel) McClerren. She married George S. Gholson and he preceded her in death on July 31, 1993. Sarah taught elementary school for over 20 years in several one room schools in Saline and Franklin Counties. She last taught at the Bixler School before her retirement in 1956. Following retirement she and her husband moved to Port Orange, Florida. She is survived by her Sisters Betty L. Small and husband Roger of Port Orange, Florida and Oma Lee Lewis and husband David of Harrisburg. Preceded by her Parents, Husband, Brother Carl McClerren,Sisters-Anna Mae Williams and Leone Maurer. Visitation will be held from 11am until 1pm on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with prayers led by Mr. Ted Boulds. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the American heart Association or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
