Marion Sharon Lee Thompson, 62, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at 5:46 P.M. at South East Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Sharon was born July 17, 1942 to Neal & Glenna (Stewart) Morgan in Decatur. Her 85 year old loving Mother survives in San Diego, CA She married Phillip Thompson in LaMesa, CA on December 30, 1961 and he survives in Marion. Sharon was a homemaker and caregiver. Sharon lived in Southern California from 1958 until her return to Southern Illinois (Marion) in May 2000 Survivors include: Husband Phillip Thompson of Marion Mother Glenna Morgan of San Diego, CA Three Sons: Gary Thompson of Marion Greg Thompson & wife Kimila of Marion Phillip N. Thompson & wife Aurelia of Corona, CA Daughter: Melinda Portillo and husband Angel of Marion Grandchildren: Brandon Portillo of Marion Katelyn Thompson of Marion Nikolas Portillo of Marion Abbelyn Thompson of Marion Zoey Portillo of Marion Two Sisters: Debbie Hoffman of Escondido, CA Michele Haley & husband Steven of San Diego, CA Brother-in-laws: David E. Thompson Albert & Joyce Thompson of Vancouver, WA Sister-in-laws: Faith & Norm Laroner of Santa Rosa, CA Hazel & Larry Hilliard of McCumzie, PA Sister Gay Susan McDonald of San Diego, CA Several Nieces & Nephews Preceded by: Father, Sister Pamela Kelly and Brother-in-law Gregg Hoffman Sharon will be greatly missed by family and her many close friends through out the United States including Sandie & Bill Flanigan of San Antonio, TX It was Sharons wish to be cremated and her ashes will be scattered into the cool blue Alaskan waters in 2005 with a memorial service held on board a cruise ship at that time. This will be her 14th and final trip to Alaska. She loved to cruise the Pacific Coast yearly from Vancouver Canada to Anchorage and then back down the coast to Seattle, San Franciso and finally San Diego. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of the arrangements.
