Sherman McPheron

October 26, 1927 — December 23, 2014

Marion- Sherman McPheron, age 87, of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Sherman was born in Johnston City on October 26, 1927, the son of Sherman Fred and Elsie (Bell) McPheron. He married Ruth Jean Willard in Marion on November 13, 1949. She preceded him in death on October 26, 2000. Mr. McPheron was a member of the Cana Baptist Church. He was a proud United States Navy Veteran of World War II.  Sherman had retired from Taylor Motor Company in Benton where he specialized in auto body repair. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law- Channa Lynn and James Fleming of Canton, GA; sister- Gloria Barker of Murphysboro; and two half-brothers- Bob and Dennis McPheron. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife- Ruth, and his sister- Wanda Sherrard. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. John Howat officiating. Burial will follow at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy.  Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
