Shirley E. Burke

Herrin- Shirley E. Burke, 83, of Herrin, passed away at 10:40 AM, Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born on November 22, 1928 in Herrin to Roy S. and Violet (Winning) Eldridge. She married Charles S. Burke and he preceded her in death on February 12, 1984. Shirley was a homemaker and formerly worked as a secretary. She excelled as a typist and was quite proficient with shorthand. Survivors include- Son- John Burke of Herrin She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son- Gary Burke. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is in charge of arrangements.
