Marion Stanley Parks, 82, of Marion and Waco, Texas, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 11:10 P.M. at Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas. Stanley was born July 15, 1927 in Carrier Mills the son of Marion & Bertha (Blue) Parks. He married Peggy Sue Edmonds in Pittsburg on November 25, 1954 and together they have shared over 55 years of marriage. He retired from United Manufacturing. Stanley was a member of the Western Heights Baptist Church in Waco, Texas and former member of Parrish Park Baptist Church. He was a WWII Veteran and a member of Marions VFW Post #1301. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: Daughter Rebecca Parks Walker and husband Jed of Waco, Texas Grandson Parks Walker of Waco, Texas Brother John Parks of Johnston City Five nephews; Dr. Jeff Parks of Herrin Stuart Parks of Herrin Kevin Parks Bob Parks Tim Parks Three nieces; Michele Borum of Marion Jean Parks Stephanie Metten of Marion Preceded by Parents, Sister Mary Alyce King and Brother Gene Parks Graveside services will be Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 2 P.M. at Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. David Slag officiating. Military rites will be presented by Marions VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147 and National Guard Flag Detail Unit. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the cemetery. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Parrish Park Baptist Church or the FUMC Boy Scouts of America Troop #308 of Waco. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, IL 62959
