Susie E. Hastings

Marion- Susie E. Hastings, 91, of Roanoke, VA, formerly of Marion, passed away at 11:15 AM, Sunday, March 18, 2007 at her daughters home in Roanoke. Susie was born on December 11, 1915 in Crab Orchard, IL to Thomas & Rebecca (Atwood) Klope. She married Irvan Estes Hastings on November 14, 1934 in Marion. He preceded her in death on January 14, 1983. Mrs. Hastings was a homemaker and worked many years as an aide at Elgin State Hospital. She retired in 1973. She was a former member of the Radio Tabernacle in Herrin. When she was able she enjoyed crocheting and working word puzzles. Survivors include: Son & daughter in law- Wendall & Barb Hastings of Dongola Daughter & son in law- Loretta & Roger Coble of St. Charles, IL Daughter- Joyce Bolton of Roanoke, VA Daughter & son in law- Norma & William Horn of Roanoke, VA Grandchild- Melissa Barnes & husband Dean of Elkhorn, WI Grandchild- Wendall Hastings, Jr. of Dongola Grandchild- Terry Watson & wife Cecelia of Pexico, MO Grandchild- Jim Horn & wife Sue of Roanoke, VA Ten Great Grandchildren Seven Great Great Grandchildren Sister- Mabel Ferguson of Spillertown Numerous nieces & nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son- Tommy Hastings, three grandchildren, three sisters- Mary Hanks, Lucille McGuire & Eula Mae Cox, and three brothers- Robert, Lester & Levi Klope. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, March 23, 2007 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Shorty Alsip will officiate. Burial will follow at Davis Prairie Cemetery in Crab Orchard. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until time of service Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Good Samaritan Hospice and will be accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home/ 800 N. Market St./ Marion, IL 62959.
