Sylvia E. Ward

Herrin- Sylvia Elizabeth Ward (Bellett), age 96, formerly of Herrin, passed away at 11:30 pm on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Church Creek Memory Care in Arlington Heights, IL. 

Sylvia was born in Herrin on November 21, 1923, the daughter of Deserie and Nell (Metzer) Bellett. She married Charles Ward in Marion on August 13, 1943. He survives in Arlington Heights.

Sylvia was an incredibly talented person. She was an avid reader, an artist, a seamstress who designed her own clothes and a nurse.

She leaves behind her husband of 76 years, Charles L. Ward. Her daughters Susan (Ward) Vasilogambros of Arlington Heights, IL and Phyllis (Marchese) of Palm Springs, California. She had three grandchildren Billy Marchese of Los Angeles, Matthew Vasilogambros and Elizabeth Vasilogambros, both of Washington D.C. and two great grandchildren, Desi and Kate Marchese of Los Angeles, California. 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Robert Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery.  A time of visitation will be held from 10-11am on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home.
