Tempa A. Watkins

Marion Tempa A. Watkins, 89, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 10:15 A.M. at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Tempa was born March 11, 1920 the daughter of Walter Elders and Younil (Taylor) Strunk. She married Earl Watkins on June 11, 1955 in Benton, Illinois and together they have shared over 54 years of marriage. She was a member of the Johnston City United Pentecostal Church and she retired from Marion Unit 2 Schools. In addition to her husband, Tempa is survived by: Four Daughters; Nancy Hickey and husband Clyde of Spillertown Mildred Anderson and husband Loren of Thompsonville Anita Anderson and husband Logan of Pittsburg Ruth Jackie Moore and husband Charles of Herrin Fifteen Grandchildren; Jerry & Karen Hickey of Spillertown Joy Russell of Marion Gary Hickey of Herrin Michael Hickey of Ireland Ellen & Mike Meece of Johnston City Boyd & Barbara Anderson of Pittsburg Lora & Mike Chamness of Creal Springs Donna Anderson of Thompsonville David & Valerie Anderson of Crab Orchard Kay Fleming of Johnston City Joann & Brian Tanner of Dykersburg Logan & Tammie Anderson of St. Augustine, Florida Evelyn Stacy of Carterville Christy & Rick Walter of Royalton Amy & Heath Aldrich of Uconn, Oklahoma Twenty-five Great Grandchildren Two Great Great Grandchildren Three Brothers; Oscar & Mary Strunk of Richland, Washington Virgil Strunk of Marion Howard & Patsy Strunk of Marion Three Sisters; Bobbie Miner of Marion Mimoth Johnson of Marion Pauline Carter of West Frankfort Two Half-Sisters; Laura McGinnis of Herrin Peggy Jeralds of Herrin Several nieces and nephews Preceded by Parents, Sister Mary Bearden and Half-Brother Bud Elders Funeral services will be Sunday, October 18, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Michael Glasco officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Johnston City United Pentecostal Church.
