Terry Ray Pyle

Johnston City Terry Ray Pyle, 64, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2006 at 12:20 P.M. surrounded by his family and friends at Herrin Hospital. Terry Ray was born March 11, 1942 in Carrier Mills to Rosco and Aileen (Deaton) Pyle. He married Terry Kaye Williams on June 23, 1967 in Carrier Mills. Terry Kaye survives in Johnston City. He was retired from General Telephone Company in Marion where he worked from 1966-1993. He also worked several years for Sullivan Electric from 1996-2002 and he was currently working for Timberline Fisheries. He enjoyed mowing grass, doing odd jobs, and always lending a helping hand to those in need. He was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church in Johnston City where he served as a Deacon and Trustee. He was current Johnston City Park Board President. He founded the Johnston City Jr. Football and Cheerleader Program. He was past President of Johnston City Little League Baseball. He was scorekeeper at Johnston City High School for several years. He was a member of the Johnston City Ministerial Alliance and I.B.E.W. #702 of West Frankfort. Terry Ray was an avid sports fan. He was a 1960 graduate of Carrier Mills High School. His words were kindness, his deeds were love, his spirit humble, and his life well spent. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at Washington Avenue Baptist Church, 304 East 9th Street, Johnston City with Rev. Bill Schell, Rev. Kenneth Edwards and Rev. Danny Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 9:00 P.M. at Washington Avenue Baptist Church. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion will be handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to Washington Avenue Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the church and at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
