Herrin- Thomas C. Tom Morris, 81, of Sevierville, TN, formerly of Herrin, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM EST at his home in Sevierville, TN. Tom was born on September 12, 1929 in Dundee, IL to Charlie & Bessie (Moore) Morris. He married T. Louise Sweeney on September 12, 1958 in Marion. She preceded him in death on October 14, 1992. He worked fourteen years at Tuck Tape in Carbondale as a hi/low driver. Prior to that, he drove a truck in the coal mines and a taxi for several years. He formerly attended First Baptist Church in Energy, but more recently went to the First Apostolic Church in Maryville, TN. He enjoyed repairing lawn mowers and helping out at the local small engine repair shop in Sevierville, TN. Survivors include- Daughter- Nina Michi & husband Steve of Sevierville, TN Daughter- Carol Moore of Cambria Daughter- Teresa Ann Hoyle & husband Scott of Murphysboro Grandchildren: Kimberly Vermillion & husband Eric of Kalamazoo, MI Jon Wagoner of Herrin Tommy Wagoner of Herrin Sue Hawks of Columbus, OH Tonita Pate & husband Jason of Pickerington, OH Adopted Grandchildren: April & Jason Baker of Maryville, TN Anna & John Kirby of Maryville, TN Step Grandchildren- Robert & Jennifer Michi of Orlando, FL Thirteen Great Grandchildren Brother- Russell Ray Morris of Herrin Special niece- Sherry Hanes & husband Rich of Herrin Several nieces and nephews Special great great nephew- Sebastian Housden Sister in law and brother in law- Wanda & Bob Fietsam of Marion He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson- Rick Hawks, two sisters, two brothers and one sister in law- Dorothy Tottleben. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, December 20, 2010 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Brother Kenneth Carpenter will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of service, Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Maryville First Apostolic Church- Building Fund and will be accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home/ 201 S. 13th St/ Herrin, IL 62948.
