Tillie Clift

Herrin- Tillie (Martinez) Clift, age 84, of Herrin, passed away at 1:35pm on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at her daughter's home in Roseville, Michigan.  She was born as Telvania Martinez in Depue, Illinois on January 8, 1930, the daughter of Manuel and Telvania (Sirgo) Martinez.  She married William E. Clift of Putnam, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1995.  Mrs. Clift was a member of the Herrin United Methodist Church as well as the Henry United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Group, the Henry Order of the Eastern Star, the Marion Senior Citizen Center, and the Music Makers.  Tillie attended Depue High School and graduated from Illinois Valley Community College, where she received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing. She worked at Lacon Clinic and Perry Memorial Hospital, from where she retired.  Survivors include four children- Daughter- Susan Sweitzer of Roseville, MI Son- Andy Clift of Sterling Heights, MI Son and Daughter-in-law- Mike and Vera Clift of Garden City, MO Daughter and Son-in-law- Lori and Kurt Sefton of Woodbine, MD Six Grandchildren Three Great Grandchildren Sister- Louise Bezely of Spring Valley, IL Sister- Joyce Lindquist of Spring Valley, IL Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband- William, five sisters, three brothers and two brother-in-laws.  Funeral services will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Friday evening at the funeral home.    Graveside services will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Henry Cemetery in Henry, IL. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery.  For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the Patient Assess Network Foundation; 1331 F Street NW; Suite 975; Washington, DC 20004. Donations may also be made online at www.panfoundation.org. Envelopes will also be available and accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home; 201 S 13th Street; Herrin, IL 62948.
