James Thomas (Tom) Strang, age 64, of Marion, died at 6:40 P.M. on September 1st, 2001, at his home.
Visitation for Mr. Strang was on Wednesday, September 5th from 9:00-11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. The funeral service, including Masonic Rites, was at 11:00 A.M. with Gordon Lambert officiating. Burial with military rites by VFW Post #1301 of Marion followed at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion.
Mr. Strang was born May 28, 1937, in Marion to James Thomas and Ann (Wright) Strang. Both parents are deceased. He married Judy Bain (his former wife) on September 22, 1959. She survives.
Mr. Strang was retired after 22 years at General Tire. He was a member of the Marion Masonic Lodge #89 AFAM-BPOE Elks #800. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in 1958 & 1959. He was also a member of the VFW Post #1301 in Marion and the American Legion Post #147. Memorials may be given to the Elks Crippled Childrens Fund.
He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael S. Strang and Mitchell & Tatia Strang, and one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle & Mark Roberts; grandsons, Zachary & Jesse Strang, all of Marion. He is also survived by one brother, Dennis Strang of Patoka, Illinois. He was preceded by one sister, Elizabeth Strang.
