Tom Rodney- Rescheduled for 12/27/04

Herrin- Tom Rodney, 91, of Herrin, passed away at 12:52pm Wednesday December 22, 2004 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Mr Rodney was born October 6, 1913 to William and Jessie (McCarthy) Rodney. He married Reba Walker in Perryville, MO on July 27, 1938. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2001. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of the United Mine Workers of America as well as the American Legion Post #645. He was a retired Coal Miner with Freeman United Coal Company. Survivors include- Son- Robert Rodney- Energy, IL Grandson- Scott and Laura Rodney- Dallas, TX Granddaughter- Charla Rodney- San Diego, CA Sister- Sadie Kelly- Herrin, IL (2) Sister-In-Laws- Elsie Rodney-Marion, IL Lela Rodney- Columbus, Ohio Preceded by- parents, Wife- Reba Rodney, 5 Brothers- Joe, Jim, William, Edward and Robert Rodney Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin has been entrusted with arrangements. Funeral services will be held Monday December 27, 2004 at 11:00am at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with the Rev Paul Tirey officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Energy. Visitation will be held on Monday December 27, 2004 from 10-11am at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
