Herrin- Van Albert "Bunky" Sjoblom, 81, of Herrin, formerly of Colorado, Michigan, and Oklahoma died at 12:43 PM, Sunday, October 7, 2001 at his home in Herrin.
Van was born on February 24, 1920 in Herrin to Harry & Helen (Lyski) Sjoblom. He married Lucille Jones on November 25, 1939 in Pontiac, MI. She preceded him in death on October 4, 1970.
Mr. Sjoblom was a high school graduate, Calhan High School in Colorado, in an era when education was a hard thing to come by. He worked as a truck driver. His first driving job was with a dairy in Michigan, but he retired in 1975 from Motor Car Transport in Pontiac. Van was a WWII Navy Veteran and served his country in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the Teamsters and in his spare time enjoyed woodworking and carpentry.

Numerous nieces, nephews and one sister in law and four brothers in law and their spouses.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers; Frank, Alec, George, and Arthur, and one sister; Ina York.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 11, 2001 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Paul Tirey will officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2001 from 6-9:00 PM at the funeral home. Private burial services will take place at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery in Michigan.
