Vangie R. Dunn

Marion--Vangie Rose Dunn, 87, of Gainesville, GA passed away October 4, 2012 following a period of declining health. Mrs. Dunn was born November 6, 1924 in Harrisburg, IL to the late William and Belva Matthews. Mrs. Dunn lived most of her life in Harrisburg and Marion, Illinois. She had been a resident of Gainesville, Georgia for the past year having moved to be closer to her daughter. A loving devoted wife and mother, her children were very proud of her for taking on new adventures later in life, including snow skiing at age 69, snorkeling at 72, going on her first cruise at 80, and going backstage with the Rockettes at 85. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elwood W. Dunn and brother, Billy Matthews. Surviving are her children, Greg and Karen Dunn, Makanda, IL, Nancy Dunn Glass and Gert Adolphsen, Dawsonville, GA; Niece, Judy Sims, Marion, IL; Grandchildren, Britni and Cortni Townsend; and other relatives. Funeral services for Mrs. Dunn will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Goddard Chapel in Marion, Illinois. Interment will follow the service in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion, Illinois.
