Velma R. McCollum, 75, of Marion, passed away at 6:32 P.M. at her home on Monday, March 24, 2003.
She was born on March 27, 1927 in Williamson County to Raymond and Ada (Moulton) Smith; they both preceded her in death. She married H.O. McCollum on June 4, 1950 at the Crab Orchard United Methodist Church, he passed away on September 26, 1989. In the 1950s and 1960s Velma and H.O. were Song Evangelists and assisted in many revivals throughout Southern Illinois. Velma taught at Crab Orchard for 33 years as a Business Teacher. Velma was an active member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where she will be truly missed.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00 until 9:00 P.M. at the Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 28, 2003 at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Don Burroughs and Rev. James Slone officiating. The casket will be taken to the church where visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until time of service. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Memorial Donation may be made to the Evansville Rescue Mission or the Oriental Missionary Society and envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
