Veneda Jean Summers

Veneda Jean Summers, age 90, of, Marion, passed away at 2:25pm on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. Veneda was born in Marion on June 29, 1925, the daughter of Audie and Madge (Chitty) Summers. Ms. Summers was a member of the First Church of God. Before retiring, she worked as a real estate agent for more than forty-five years, having previously worked for Egyptian Real Estate. Survivors include:Niece- Natalie Spicer of Marion Niece- Diana Boles of Marion Nephew- Don (Julie) Barnaby of Marion Nephew- Marion (Vicki) Barnaby of Marion Nephew- Al (Patty) Barnaby of Marion Nephew- Jim (Sherry) Barnaby of Marion Niece- Debbie Summers of Springfield Twelve Grand Nieces and Nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers- Kenneth and Laverne Summers, sister- Katherine Barnaby, sister-in-law- LaVelle Summers, niece- Cathy Summers, grand nephew- Bryan Boles, grand niece- Melissa Barnaby Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Ivan Ryan officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Wednesday, October 14, 2015.
