Marion Verbal Wesley Barnett, 82, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2007 at 5:10 A.M. at the VA Nursing Home in Marion.
Verbal was born February 19, 1925 in Marion to Verbal Wayne & Myrtle (Phillips) Barnett. He married Betty June Robinson on June 23, 1944 and together they have shared over 62 years of marriage.
Mr. Barnett proudly answered the call to serve his country during WWII, in the Army 69th Infantry Division. He was a retired letter carrier from the Marion Post Office. He was a member of Warder Street Baptist Church and a 50 year member of the Masons, Eastern Star, DAV and VFW Post #1301.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 11, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Jim Holderfield officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by Marions VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147 and the National Guard. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Masonic services will be performed at 7:00 P.M. by Marions Masonic Fellowship Lodge #89.
