Vern R. Goode

Marion – Vern R. Goode, 62, of Marion passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Vern was born November 26, 1950 in Elkhart, Indiana the son of James and Phyllis (Anders) Goode.  He married Sharon Lee Jackson on November 12, 1969 in Marion and she preceded him in death on May 31, 2002.  On July 29, 2006 he married  Camille Hubbard, she survives in Marion He was a member of the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church.  Vern was retired and his working career included construction, General Telephone. He served as an Advisor for the SIU College of Business and had pastored several area churches. Survivors include; Wife – Camille Goode of Marion; Daughter – Jennifer Goode of Marion; Father – James Goode of Sacramento, California; Step-Daughter – Jennifer; Shafer and friend Mitch Smoot of Marion; Mother-in-law “Mom” – Mary Lou Jackson of Marion; Five Step Grandchildren;  Andrew, Brianna and Carlie Shafer, Landon and Avree Robinson all of Marion; Step Daughter-in-law – Stephanie Shafer of Marion; Four Brothers;   Douglas Goode and wife Mary Jane of Herber Springs, Arkansas;   James Goode and wife Edna of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania;   Gary Goode and wife Pam of Sacramento, California;   David Goode and wife Mona of Charlotte, North Carolina; Sister – Erlene Todd and husband Jewell of Millstadt, Illinois; Brother-in-law – Bill Hubbard and wife Lois of O’Fallon, Missouri; Sister-in-law – Cindy Jackson Ruppert of Glendale, California; One Niece and 3 Nephews.  Preceded by – Mother – Phyllis Goode, First Wife – Sharon Goode, Step Son – Brian Shafer and father-in-law – Rev. John Jackson.  Funeral services will be Friday, March 15, 2013 at 11 A.M. at the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church with Pastor Jimmy Russell and Pastor Douglas Goode officiating.  Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5 – 8 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home and on Friday from 10 A.M. until the time of service at the church.  For those who prefer memorials may be made to the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church or Donate Life America.  Envelopes will be available and accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, 800 North Market Street, Marion, IL  62959.
