Marion- Verna Lee Hicks, 77, of Marion, passed away at 11:48 PM, Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Verna was born on September 8, 1030 in Marion to Virgil & Berniece (Hollis) Hicks. She worked many years as assistant comptroller at Marion Memorial Hospital and then Heartland Regional Medical Center until her retirement in 2002. She was a lifetime member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Marion and formerly served as Sunday School Treasurer. She enjoyed traveling around the world, spending time with family, eating out and shopping. Survivors include- Brother & sister in law- Bruce & Judy Hicks of DuQuoin Niece- Thala Chestosky of Marion Nephew- Mark Boyt & wife Marsha of Marion Nephew- Christopher Boyt & wife Yolanda of Marion Nephew- David Boyt of Utah Nephew- Steven Hicks & wife Kerri of Antioch, IL Nephew- Robert Hicks of De Soto Great Nieces & nephews: Blake & Bailey Hicks of Carterville Tara Rivard of Biloxi, MS Matthew Chestosky & wife Starr of Johnston City Steven & Michael Boyt of Marion Savannah & Tori Boyt of Utah Several great nieces & nephews She was preceded in death by her parents & sister- Geraldine Boyt. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Pastor Tim Ozment will officiate. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM, Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. Memorial donations are suggested to Aldersgate United Methodist Church and will be accepted at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home/ 800 N. Market/ Marion, IL 62959.
