Violet Marie Odum

Herrin- Violet Marie Odum, 79, of Herrin, passed away at 10:45 PM, Friday, October 12, 2007 at home surrounded by her family. Violet was born on May 8, 1928 in Herrin to Jack & Pearl (Furlow) Meadows. She married William Odum on June 9, 1984 in Herrin. He survives of Herrin. She was a homemaker and of Pentecostal faith. Survivors- Husband- William Odum of Herrin Daughter- Meresa Monteith of Herrin Son- John Monteith & wife Judy of Herrin Son- Joe Monteith of Herrin Five grandchildren- Lisa O'Boyle Rick Monteith Tina Monteith & Todd Boomer Jason Monteith Lexi Patterson Eight Great Grandchildren Sister- Edna Duringer of Herrin Sister- Jeanette Malone of Herrin Sister- Betty Ann Kelly of Herrin Tons of nieces & nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands- Joe Monteith & Bob Baldwin, four sisters- Iretta Flaggan, Ruby Carnithan. Dorothy Dixon & Opal Guild, and one brother- Homer Meadows. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Monday, October 15, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
