Virda Ellen Yewell

Marion Virda Ellen Yewell, 92, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2007 at 2:29 A.M. at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. Virda was born on September 13, 1914 to Richard and Myrtle (Winders) Taylor in Pope County. She married Rue Vane Yewell in Golconda on August 3, 1932 and together they shared over 47 years of marriage until his death on November 13, 1979. Virda was a homemaker. She was a member of 3rd Baptist Church. Survivors include: Son, Larry Yewell and wife Patricia of Carterville, Daughter, Alice Weeks and husband Bill of Marion, four grandchildren. Glen & Beth Weeks of Collinsville, Mark & Liz Weeks of Carterville, Jeffrey L. Yewell of Groton, CT, and Elizabeth & Gary Trimble of Murphysboro. Three great grandchildren, Christine, Chad Weeks of Collinsville, and Matthew Weeks of Carterville. Several nieces and nephews. Preceded by Parents, Husband, Rue, Brother, Eulis Taylor and Sister, Dorothy Kerr. Funeral services will be Friday, March 9, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Scott Kallem officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from Noon until the time of service at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to Third Baptist Church Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
