Herrin- VIRGINIA L. JARVIS, 82, of Herrin, passed away at 2:40AM on Friday August 19, 2005 at Herrin Hospital. Virginia was born March 2, 1923 in Herrin, IL to Georgia (Crick) Bivens-Strunk and Ed Bivens. She married Carl Jarvis on December 13, 1942 in Johnston City, IL. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1974. Mrs. Jarvis was active with the Herrin Senior Citizens. Survivors include- 3 daughters- Barbara (husband Dale) Malone- Marion, IL Betty (husband Larry) Gilbert- Carterville, IL Carla Chamness- Herrin, IL 6 grandchildren- Vicki and Michael Owens- Johnston City, IL Beth and Joe Willmore- Thompsonville, IL Maryland Malone- Johnston City, IL Tammy and Ronnie Whitecotton- Herrin, IL Lica Chamness- St Louis, MO Amber Burks and fianc Steven Eckols- Marion, IL 6 great grandchildren- Amanda Barger- Crab Orchard, IL Lindsay Willmore- Royalton, IL Sean Owens- Johnston City, IL Josh Hall- Herrin, IL Hailey Hall- Herrin, IL Megan Whitecotton- Herrin, IL Step-Grandchild- Valerie and Eddy Long- Marion, IL Several nieces and nephews Many friends from Herrin Senior Citizens Preceded in death by- Her husband, Carl Jarvis, her parents, her step-father- Walter Strunk, 2 brothers- Raymond and Bob Bivens, and 1 sister- Mildred Bivens Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday August 21, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Pastor J.K. Tiffin officiating. Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Johnston City, IL. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Saturday August 20, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
