Virginia M. Legan

Herrin- Virginia M Legan, age 85, of Herrin, passed away at 3:40am on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. Virginia was born in Herrin on January 19, 1927, the daughter of Samuel and Lillian (Schaubert) Hunsaker.  She married Ray Legan on June 19, 1943. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Legan worked at Smoler Brothers in Herrin before retiring. Survivors include two grandchildren- Bob Harris, Jr of Herrin and Shelley (Mark) Smith of Herrin; two great grandchildren- Bobby (Briana)Harris III of Zeigler and Jamie L. Harris and her husband-to-be- Wade A Lewis of Benton; great great granddaughter- Makinley L. Harris of Zeigler; son-in-law- Bob Harris, Sr. of Herrin; niece- Darla Tippy of Herrin; and  great nephew- Chay Marshall of Energy. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband- Ray,  daughter- Jennifer Harris, and brother- Bill Hunsaker. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from noon-1pm on Saturday at the funeral home. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the family.
