Herrin- Virginia Mae Bollmann, age 85, of Herrin, passed away at 9:23am on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at her home in Herrin.
Virginia was born in Zephyrhills, Florida, on May 30, 1934, the daughter of Jesse Winfield and Linda Myrtle (Trigger) Kulp. She married Theodore H. “Ted” Bollmann in Danbury, Connecticut on November 27, 1955. He preceded her in death on December 21, 2010.
Mrs. Bollmann was of Methodist faith. She was a member of the Eastern Star, The Newcomers, the White Shrine, and had served as a chairperson for the Herrin Chapter of the United Way. Prior to her retirement, Virginia had worked as a seamstress and eventually became the manager of Zwick’s Bridal.
Survivors include three children- Cynthia and James Stewart of Galatia
Mark and Cathleen Bollmann of Carterville
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Guido of Albuquerque, New Mexico
Four Grandchildren- Nickolas and Miranda Stewart of Marion
Kyle and Brittany Hodson of Harrisburg
Julie-Ann Bollmann and Jared Wise of Marion
Mark Andrew and Kennedy Bollmann of Herrin
Twelve Great Grandchildren
Sister- Mary Deats and Bobbie Lee of Virginia
Brother- James Kulp of Danbury, Connecticut
Several Nieces and Nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son- Kevin Jon Bollmann, and sister- Frances Houchin.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 9-11am on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the United Way and will be accepted at the Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home; 201 S. 13th Street; Herrin, IL 62948.
