Virginia R. McKnight

Herrin- Virginia R. McKnight, 75, of Herrin, passed away at 8:15 AM, Monday, December 19, 2005 at Fountain Nursing Center in Marion. She was born on January 12, 1930 in Pittsburg, IL to Cecil W. & Clara F. (Stewart) Hicks. Her grandparents were William & Agnes (Absher) Hicks of Pittsburg and John R. & Bettie J. (Fiveash) Stewart of Corinth. Virginia attended Pittsburg Grade School and graduated from eighth grade and high school in Chester. After graduation in 1947 she attended SIUs School of Practical Nursing and passed her state boards in 1962. She worked as a LPN at Carbondale Clinic and for over twenty years at Herrin Hospital. She married Roy Gordon Meyer on January 28, 1950 in Marion. Roy expired at Herrin Hospital in 1976. She married Robert L. McKnight, Sr. on November 17, 1990 in Herrin. Virginia was a member of Freeman Chapel Church. McIntyre & husband Jason- St. Louis, MO Brandon R. Mize- St. Louis, MO Emily S. Meyer- Marietta, GA Great Grandson- Aiden M. McIntyre- St. Louis, MO Step Son- Robert L. McKnight, Jr. & wife Pam- Johnston City, IL Step Son- Paul D. McKnight & wife Tina- Brookport, IL Step Grandchildren: Amanda D. McKnight- Marion, IL Sarah O. Lindner & husband Josh- Orient, IL Brett, Cheriah & Miranda Casper- Brookport, IL Two Step Great Grandchildren- Calvin & Valerie Lindner- Orient, IL Cousin- Carolyn Susie Price- Pittsburg, IL Several other relatives and close friends She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, infant sister, (Marion E. Hicks) and two grandchildren; Jennifer Nicole & Justin Lee Mize. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 22, 2005 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Clyde Dillman & Rev. Don Colson will officiate. Burial will follow at Corinth Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM, Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at the funeral home.
