Virginia Ripley

VIRGINIA MAE RIPLEY, age 82, of Marion, passed away at 6:28am on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 in Marion. Virginia was born on May 25, 1926 in Dahlgren, IL, the daughter of James Albert and Lelen Simon (Goin) Edens. She was the last of nine children. Virginia married Clifford E. Ripley in Gibson City on November 3, 1947. Together, they shared sixty years of marriage. He survives in Marion. Mrs. Ripley served as a nurses aid in the Intensive Care Unit at Marion Memorial Hospital for sixteen years. She was a member of the Marion Independent Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband-Clifford E. Ripley of Marion, IL Two Sons- James Leonard and Linda Ripley of Lubbock, TX David Wayne and Karol Ripley of Tooele, Utah Three Daughters- Wrayanne Ripley Flasar of Schaumberg, IL Gena Marie Carmen of Elk Grove Village, IL Connie Jo Rowe of Marion, IL Nine Grandchildren Three Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion, with the Rev. Bill Norman and Rev. Keith Rankin officiating. Entombment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, July 25, 2008 at the funeral home. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Marion Independent Baptist Church building fund.
