Vivian M. Rumsey

Herrin- Vivian M. Rumsey, age 94, of Herrin, went to be with the Lord at 2:22pm on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at her home in Herrin. Vivian was born in West Frankfort on May 5, 1919, the daughter of Alsey and Ada (Williams) Jordan.  She married Charles “Chick” Rumsey on April 16, 1938.  He preceded her in death on June 17, 1996. Together, they shared fifty-eight years of marriage. Mrs. Rumsey attended the Royalton Church of Nazarene when she was able.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.  Vivian was a very good cook and made the greatest pies. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law- Sue and Kenny Clendenin of Herrin Grandchildren- Roger Bird of Herrin Charles and Jean Murphy of O’Fallon, MO Jemmia and Chuck Coleman of Herrin Kenny Ray and Dawn Clendenin of Energy Jada Frick of Marion Great Grandchildren- Josh Lindsey of Herrin Cassie and Ryan Jeralds of Herrin Meghan Murphy of O’Fallon, MO Dean and Pauly Coleman of Herrin Tyler and Kady Clendenin of Energy Ezra, Ethan, Elliot, Carter, Corbin, & Catherine Frick of Marion Jon and Kristy Bird and children of Herrin Jeff and Sonya Bird and children of Turkey Justin and Amanda Bird of Herrin Great Great Grandchildren- Maddie and Brennan Jeralds of Herrin Bentley Stucker of Carterville Eastyn Stucker of Energy Sister- Esther Farley of West Frankfort Brother- Albert Jordan of Thompsonville Several Nieces and Nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband- Charles “Chick” Rumsey, brothers- Gene, Cleo, Fred and Arthur Jordan, sister- Irene Jordan, great grandsons- James Lindsey and Charles Lee Murphy II, and her granddaughter- Deloris Bird. Private family services will be held with Rev. Don Colson and Rev. David Soreson officiating.  Vivian will be laid to rest next to her husband at Egyptian Memorial Gardens in Energy.  Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with arrangements.
