Wallace Gale Fowler, 76, formerly of Pittsburg passed away April 26,
2002 at 4:35 P.M. at Marion Veteran?s Affairs Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 29, 2002 at Mitchell-Hughes funeral home in Marion at 1:00 P.M with Rev. Cecil Parrish officiating. Visiting hours for the public will be Monday from 11:00 A.M. till time of the service. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery in Pittsburg with Military Honors being performed by VFW Post #1301.
Wallace was born April 29, 1925 near Pittsburg to Orval Madison and Betty (Browning) Fowler. They preceded him in death. He is retired from Maytag in Herrin after 38 years, and worked in Quality Control. Wallace was a member of IAAM Union and was Secretary of the Union for 25 years. He was a member of Lake Creek Baptist Church. He proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the 94th Bomber Squadron, and is a lifetime member of VFW Post #1301 in Marion. Survivors include:

Son: Brian Fowler of Harrisburg, Daughter: Sandra Stricklin of Gaffney, SC, Daughter: Patricia Sullivan of Saginaw, MI. Seven grandchildren: Cami Mounts, Christopher Wagoner, Kacie Wagoner, Sean Fowler, Matthew Fowler, Noelle Sullivan, and Sarah Sullivan. Two great grandchildren and one sister and brother-in-law: Betty and John Tyler of Pittsburg. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, one son Dale Fowler, a daughter Julie Orange, and an infant son Barry Fowler.
