Walter Burnell "Wally" Fly

Marion- Walter Burnell Wally Fly, 75, of Marion, passed away at 3:15 AM, Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Walter was born on February 9, 1935 in a farmhouse south of Marion to Dallas & Helen (McInturff) Fly. He married Donna Launius on April 7, 1985 in Ottawa, IL. She survives of Marion. Walter worked as a supervisor for AT& T for 30 years until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Fountain United Methodist Church in Marion and a former member of the Marion Elks. He enjoyed golf and spending time outdoors with friends and family riding horses, fishing his pond or hunting deer. Survivors include- Wife- Donna Fly of Marion Mother- Helen Fly of Marion Daughter- Sherri Layne Ritke of Washington Son- Dallas Burnell Fly of Carbondale Son- Christopher Alan Fly of Washington Daughter- Adrienne Renee (Fly) Mizen and husband Shane of Yorkville, IL Step daughter- Ann Marie Schwarz of Ottawa, IL Grandchild- Bradley James Ritke Grandchild- Cara Layne Ritke Step grandchild- Candice Jodeen Ruark and husband Kurt Step grandchild- Leigh Ann Hinterlong Step grandchild- Alexander Jordan Hinterlong Step grandchild- Trevor Ryan Schwarz Great Grandchild- Carter James Ritke Step great grandchild- Leo Connor Ruark Several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his father and brother- J.C. Fly. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Chris Cutsinger officiating. Burial will follow at Fountain Cemetery south of Marion. Visitation will be from 12 Noon until time of service, Thursday, at the funeral home.
