Walter Boester, age 84, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at 9:55 A.M. at his home. Funeral services were at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 26th at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. David Willard officiating. Burial followed in East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation was from 5-9 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hearts Helping Hearts, Zion United Church of Christ Building Fund in Marion, or the American Lung Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Mr. Boester was born June 10, 1916 to August Frederick and Sophia Anna (Dahmer) Boester in Williamson County, Illinois. Both parents preceded him in death. He married Christine Swafford on May 23, 1941, in Jackson, Missouri.
Survivors include his wife, Christine, of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Kevin Stephens, and two brothers, Irvin & August Boester.
Mr. Boester was retired after working as a coal miner, a gunsmith, and at Bob Stotlar Building Company. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Marion. He was also a member of the NRA (National Rifle Association).
