Wanda Joy Palmer went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, November 26, 2021, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s, in Clemont, Florida. She was born Wanda Joy Mausey to parents John B. & Mary Ellen Mausey in Creal Springs, and was formally from Marion, where she resided for many years. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side.
Beloved wife of 66 years to Curtis E. Palmer of Clermont, FL, formally from Marion, IL; devoted Mother to two daughters, Cindy L. Palmer Brown of Houston, TX, and Crystal L. Plussa of Clemont, FL; loving Grandmother to Andy Murrie, of St. Louis, MO, Kyle Plussa of Naples, FL, and Nicole Plussa of Denver, CO.; loving Great Grandmother to William Evan Murrie and Anna Grace Murrie of St. Louis, MO. She is survived by her two sisters, Edna Beyers of Carterville, IL, and Faye Ogden of Arroyo Grande, CA, and was preceded in death by her other two sisters Wyona Moore Carter and Lavona Mausey ; and amazing aunt to many nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed her membership at the 2nd Baptist Church in Marion, working as a Sunday school teacher, and volunteering in many church activities. She enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, baking homemade desserts, and always hosting family gatherings during the holidays. She will be missed by all!
Visitation will be held at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home on Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 10:00 AM till 12:00 PM. Funeral services will follow 12:00. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
