Herrin Ward Wickham, 81, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 1:54 P.M. at Herrin Hospital.
Ward was born June 8, 1926 the son of Roy & Maude (Googe) Wickham in Herrin. He married Irene Smith on October 30, 1946 in Belleville and together they have shared over 61 years of marriage. She survives in Herrin.
Ward was the former owner of Wilbert Vault Company in Herrin. He was a WWII Army veteran and a member of the Herrin VFW and Elks.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and good friend to many. He will be missed by all.

Preceded by his Parents, Two Sisters, Lillian Thompson, Wanda Wickham-Tutkus, Brother, Deon Strodick and nephew Danny Joe Strodick
Funeral services will be Friday, February 8, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev Todd Hawk officiating. Burial will follow in Herrin Cemetery. Military rites will be presented by Herrins VFW and American Legion Posts. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a luncheon following the conclusion of services at Oak Wood Park (formerly Eagles Park) in Herrin.
For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
