Marion- WENDLE L. BUDDY BELTZ, age 63, of Marion, passed away at 7:57pm on Friday, June 5, 2009 at his home in Marion. Wendle was born on June 10, 1945 in Carterville to Wendle L. & Clyde (Coleman) Beltz. He married Sharon Deere on July 3, 1993 in Herrin. She survives of Herrin. Wendle graduated with honors from Rend Lake College. He served his country while enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Once honorably discharged, he returned home and worked as a forklift operator at Maytag for twenty seven years until his retirement. Later he drove for Southern Mold Company. He loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, working on and driving Chevy Camaros, yard work and music from the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. He was a member of the Herrin Elks. The family would like to thank Alonna of Hospice, Billie Jo, Leslie, Ginger & Barb along with Dr. Cuartes. Survivors include- Daughter- Shannon Oxendine & husband Ted of Carterville Son- Edward Brookhouse & wife Brandi of Sterling, VA Son- Lonnie Beltz & wife Claudia of West Frankfort Special Granddaughter- Maddie Oxendine Grandchildren: Brad & Crystal Oxendine Chad & Chelsi Oxendine Bryan Murray Nic Oxendine Amy, Stacy, Michael, Joshua, Brandee & Brandon Sister in law- Jeanne Jeralds & husband Rex of Carterville Brother in law- Robert Deere & wife Teresa of Energy Special friends- Darryl & Bennie & Randy & Marion & Randy Cox He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter who died in infancy- Skyla Marie Beltz and good friend- Charlie Cox. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Brad Harlow officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery with military honors provided by Herrins VFW and American Legion posts. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Monday, June 8, 2009 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. Elks services will be held at 7:00pm on Monday evening at the funeral home. Watch the Video Tribute
