Creal Springs- William A. Davis, 77, of Creal Springs, died at 7:45 P.M., Saturday, October 6, 2001 at Marion Memorial Hospital. William was born on April 1, 1924 in Marion to Harrison & Elsie (Barwick) Davis. He married Irene Blackwell on February 22, 1946 in Piggott, AR. She survives of Creal Springs. Mr. Davis worked as a coal miner at Peabody Eagle #2 in Shawneetown. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, the Creal Springs Masonic Lodge, and the United Mine Workers of America local #1650. In his spare time, William enjoyed farming and visiting with people in hospitals and nursing homes. SURVIVORS: Wife- Irene Davis- Creal Springs Son & dtr in law- Donald L. & Carolyn Davis- Creal Springs Dtr & son in law- Wanda J. & Steve Rushing- Creal Springs Five Grandchildren: Tina & husband Pat Barger- Crab Orchard Dawn Ellen & husband Jeffrey Wherle- Ozark, IL Angel Rushing- Creal Springs Carrie Odle- West Frankfort Jeremy Rushing- Creal Springs Three Great Grandchildren: James Jeralds- Ozark, IL Tara Jeralds- Ozark Donovan Barger- Crab Orchard Three Brothers: Edward Lee & wife Ileta Davis- Creal Springs Johnny & wife Betty Davis- Paulton Kenneth Ray & wife Linda Davis- Marion Four Sisters: Alma Kelley- Creal Springs Lou & husband Don Feltz- Creal Springs Reva & husband Bill Berard- Joliet, IL Pearl & husband William Kirman- Joliet He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Dorothy Bailey and Wilma Davis, and brother; James Davis. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at Fairview Baptist Church located on the Saraville blacktop, north of Creal Springs. Revs. Maurice Absher, Perry Montgomery, and Dan Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Arnold View Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-9:00 PM, Monday, October 8, 2001 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion & from 10:00 AM until time of service Tuesday at the church.
