William "Bill" Gene Baize

Herrin- WILLIAM BILL GENE BAIZE, age 78, of Herrin, passed away at 1:08am on Thursday, January 11, 1007 at St. Lukes Hospital in St. Louis. William was born on April 20, 1928 in Herrin to William Henry and Margaret (Huffstutler) Baize. He married Janet Carter on November 14, 1953 in DuQuoin and together they shared 53 years of marriage. Mrs. Baize survives in Herrin. Mr. Baize was self-employed, owning his own trucking and excavating company. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Herrin. Bill was a US Army Veteran having served in Korea. Survivors include his wife- Janet Baize of Herrin; five sons- Paul Baize of Herrin, Bob Baize of Herrin, Jim Baize of Dittmer, MO, Tom & Blanca Baize of Sheppard Air Force Base, TX, and Roger Baize of Madison, WI; eleven grandchildren- Becky and Trever Butta of West Frankfort, Joey Baize of Herrin, Michelle Baize of Herrin, Rebecca Gibson of Herrin, Scott Baize of Herrin, Nathan Baize of Herrin, Jessica Baize of Sheppard Air Force Base, TX, Daniel Baize, Timothy Baize, T.J. Baize, and John Baize; six great grandchildren- Zachary, Tiara, Lukas, Isiah, Brooklyn, and Joe David; one sister- Gloria Lyon of Herrin; several nieces and nephews Mr. Baize was preceded in death by his parents, great grandson- Brynden Gibson, and sister- Meribeth Mays. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, January 15, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Dr. Jerry Ford officiating. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Sunday, January 14, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
