Marion William Lester Bill Ollis, 87, passed away on Thursday, January 03, 2008 at 12:50 P.M. at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Bill was born October 3, 1920 in Williamson County the son of William E. and Girtha (Kelley) Ollis. He married Evalena (Parrish) Ollis on August 18, 1940 in Jackson, Missouri which has given them over 67 years of love together. She survives in Marion. Bill retired after 25 years with Fabick Machinery were he had been Customer Service Manager. He was a member of Masons of Illinois, Saline Lodge No. 339, Goreville and attended First Apostolic Church of Marion. He was proud to have served his country during WWII in the Navy. Bill enjoyed working auctions, being on his tractor and woodworking and spending time with his dog Bear. In addition to his wife Bill is survived by: Two sons; Joe Ollis and wife Gwen of Creal Springs Ronnie Ollis and wife Bonnie of Marion Two grandchildren; Tracey Schlenker of Las Vegas, NV Bruce Bryant of Tulsa, OK Two great grandchildren; Heather Soto of Marion Kaitlyn Brown of Chester Great great grandchild Jaden Soto of Marion Several nieces and nephews Preceded by Parents and Brother Wendell Ollis Funeral services will be Sunday, January 6, 2008 at 1:30 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. R.G. Walls and Rev. Shorty Alsip officiating. Burial will follow in Cana Cemetery. Military rites will be presented by Marions VFW Post #1301, American Legion Post #147 and National Guard Unit. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
