Murphysboro- William “Bill” T. Cosgrove, age 84, of Murphysboro, formerly of Herrin, passed away at 10:50 P.M. on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion.
William was born in Johnston City on September 4, 1934, the son of Leslie and Lena (Gillespie) Cosgrove. He married Lucille Dascotte in Johnston City in 1960. She preceded him in death on February 2, 1992. He later married Barbara Marshall on March 12, 1994 in Herrin. She survives in Murphysboro.
Bill was a graduate from Marion High School. Bill was a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ in Murphysboro.
Bill was a proud United States Army Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion in Murphysboro, and a past president of the Lions Club in Herrin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and first wife.
The family would like to extend thanks to Doctor Bowman and all the nurses at the VA Community Living Center for the exceptional care they provided to Bill.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Sam Roethemeyer and Rev. P.K. Sunny officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City with military rites. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 12 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.
