William C. Dinkins

Carterville- WILLIAM CLIFFORD DINKINS, age 84, of Carterville, passed away at 12:30am on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Helia Healthcare Center in Carbondale. William was born in Murray, KY on April 22, 1923, the son of Albert Clifford and Bertha Lee (Owen) Dinkins. He married Pearline G. Gant on August 15, 1981 in East Chicago, Indiana. She survives in Carterville. Mr. Dinkins was a retired steel worker for LTV. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Hobart, IN. He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion. William was proud to serve his country as a World War II Army Veteran. Survivors include his loving wife- Pearline G. Dinkins of Carterville, IL 2 sons- Eugene and Gayle Dinkins of Dickenson, TX Wayne and Teresa Dinkins- Houston, TX 5 grandchildren 3 great grandchildren 2 sister- Betty and John Floyd of Murfreesboro, TN Henreatta Murphy of Dresden, TN He was preceded in death by his parents, seven sisters, and one brother. As per the family's wishes, Mr. Dinkins will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, July 9, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, with the Rev. Don Colson officiating. A time of gathering will be held from 10:00am unitl the time of the service on Monday.
