William Darryl Galloway

William Darryl Galloway, age 76, of Marion, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024 at his home in Crab Orchard.

William was born May 07, 1947 in Crab Orchard, a son of Walter and Louise (McDonald) Galloway. He married Vickie Lynn Tolbert on July 03, 1981 in Pittsburg and they shared over 30 years of marriage until she preceded him in death on December 23, 2011.

William graduated Crab Orchard High School in 1965 and then attended Bailey Tech of Diesel Institute in St. Louis. He retired from Marion Ford as a mechanic and following his retirement he opened a shop in Crab Orchard where he worked as a mechanic and also did body work.

His passion was working on and restoring old trucks, he loved to trade and sell. William enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.

He is survived by four children, Chreisha (Damon) Hill of Herrin, Shawn K. (Jennifer) Galloway of Crab Orchard, ReBecca Schell of Crab Orchard, and Brandon Galloway of Pittsburg; eleven grandchildren, Kristen (Torry) Schloz, Brenden Beasley, Benjamin (Emma) Hill, Summer (Tommy) Perry, Gunnar Galloway & Fiance' Josi Braden, Jaden Schell & Fiance' MaLeah Killion, Gracelin Schell (Austin Vanness), Katelyn Galloway, Skylar Galloway, Savanneh Galloway, and Addison Galloway; his Great Grandchildren, Theodore Schloz, Kian Schell, Kaiser Schell, and MaNielah Killion; sisters, Patricia Henderson, Elaine (Patrick) Dunn; and mother of his children Anita Ray-Galloway.

He is preceded in death by his wife Vickie Lynn Galloway; his parents, Walter and Louise (McDonald) Galloway; brothers, Robert Lee Galloway, Dale Galloway.

Visitation will be Friday, April 26th, 2024 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 26, 2024, 11:00 AM at Mitchell Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Schell officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion.
