Marion William J. Bill Furlow, 87, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2006 at 10:45 P.M. at the VA Medical Center in Marion.
Bill was born June 16, 1918 in Williamson County to Sylvanus & Bessie (Shelton) Furlow. He married Helen Maxine Connett on August 30, 1937 in Paducah, Kentucky and together they shared over 66 years of marriage until her death on September 8, 2003.
Bill was a miner for the Sahara Coal Company. He proudly served his country during WWII in the Army; he received a Purple Heart while serving in the European Theater. William was a lifetime member of Marions VFW Post #1301 and DAV.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 1:30 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Short Alsip officiating. Burial will follow in Odd fellows Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by Marions VFW Post #1301 and American Legion Post #147. Visitation will Thursday from 11:30 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
