William J. Neuman

Marion- WILLIAM JOSEPH NEUMAN, age 75, of Marion, passed away at 12:15pm on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital. William was born in Quincy on June 17, 1934, the son of John A. and Florence (Holtschlag) Neuman. He married Catherine Elizabeth Howe in Quincy on October 12, 1957. She survives in Marion. Mr. Neuman was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Marion. He retired in 1995, after serving as a supervisor in electrical engineer operations for CIPS where he worked for thirty five years. William was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus member and former member of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers. He served in the Korean War. Survivors include his wife- Catherine Elizabeth (Howe) Neuman of Marion, IL Daughter- Lynne and Kent Marvin of St. Louis, MO Son- Eric and Romana Neuman of Ft Lauderdale, FL Son- Jeff Neuman of Johnston City, IL Daughter-In-Law- Dana Neuman of Beecher City, IL Three Grandchildren- Jeffrey Neuman, Elizabeth Neuman, and Thomas Neuman Brother- Rev. James Neuman of Hillsboro, IL Two sisters- Joyce Kroner of Quincy, IL and Marie Durbin of St Louis, MO He was preceded in death by his parents, one son- William Neuman, Jr., and one brother- John H. Neuman. Funeral mass will be held at 11am on Monday, November 16, 2009 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Marion. Father Richard Mohr, Rev. Monsignor Thomas Flach, and Rev. James Neuman will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3-7pm on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with a rosary being recited at 5pm on Sunday evening at the funeral home. Graveside committal services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Calvary City Cemetery in Quincy with military honors presented by Quincys American Legion posts.
