Pittsburg William K. Jenkins, 77, peacefully passed away at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the family farm. Kenneth was born in Williamson County the son of Winfield Scott & Gussie (Lollar) Jenkins. He married Wanda Jewel Sanders in Marion on June 3, 1955 and together they shared 43 years together, she passed away on March 23, 1999. He married Helen Phillips on January 8th, 2000, she survives in Pittsburg. Kenneth graduated from SIU in Carbondale with a Bachelors degree in Engineering. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict where he achieved the level of Master Sergeant and received a purple heart for his services. In his achievement in life Kenneth became President of a St. Louis based Multiplex Company and retired to the family farm in 1992, which has been owned by the family since 1892. It was at the family farm that he spent his retirement years planting flowers and trees. It is the memories of the times spent on the farm that the family will keep in their hearts forever. Kenneth attended Faith Chapel Church and was a born again Christian. Kenneth is survived by: Wife Helen Jenkins of Pittsburg Daughter Julie Renee Jenkins of St. Louis, MO Son Rex Waren Jenkins and wife Nancy of St. Louis, MO Step-children; LaRonda Lambert and husband Ed of Crab Orchard Michael Phillips and wife Scarlet of Marion Cris Winstead and husband John D. of Johnston City Terry Phillips and wife Angie of Crab Orchard Melody Holmes and husband Basil of Crab Orchard Shane Phillips and wife Jamie of Crab Orchard Ten Step-Grandchildren Three Step Great-Grandchildren Preceded by Parents Winfield & Gussie, First Wife Wanda, Sisters Evelyn & Ruth Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Gary Clark and Rev. Tommy Shelton officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Dillingham Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home.
