William Logan Bill Bennett, age 72, of Marion, died Monday, August 13th, 2001, at 8:45 a.m. at his home. Visitation for Mr. Bennett will be from 5:00-9:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 15th at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. The funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 16th at Mitchell-Hughes with Dr. Bob Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Denning Cemetery near Orient. Memorials may be given to Marion Second Baptist Church Building Fund. Mr. Bennett was born August 21, 1928, in Henry County, Tennessee, to Novie and Demetra (Chapman) Bennett. He first married Margaret Burpo. She preceded him in death. He later married Loudene White in Benton, Illinois, on August 21, 1978. Mr. Bennett was a member of Second Baptist Church in Marion. He was retired from Allen Industries in Herrin, where he worked as a Forklift Driver. He also dealt in antiques and had a bicycle shop in West Frankfort. He enjoyed reading his Bible, going to flea markets, camping, and fishing. He was an avid John Wayne fan. He loved working on bicycles. He especially loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Loudene, of Marion; five sons, Donald Bennett of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Michael (& Lana) Bennett of Greer, South Carolina; Tom (& Judy) Rich of Benton; Roger (& Loretta) Rich of Homestead, Florida; and Jeff Rich of Marion; six daughters, Billie (& Casey) Griffin of Schaumburg, Margie Cook and Bobbie (& B.C.) Nicholson of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Jackie (& Doug) Cullum of Nashville, Tennessee, Joy Bennett of Houston, Texas, and Barbara (& Barry) Jones of Marion; and 32 grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Donald Bennett of Canyon Country, California and James (& Mary) Bennett of Greensboro, North Carolina; and one sister, Mary (& Buford) Glissen of Henry, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, his first wife Margaret, and one daughter, Karen Khachikian.
