William Larry Mays

William Larry Mays, age 70, of Herrin, Illinois, passed away at 6:19 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2020 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.

William was born in Herrin on March 7, 1950, the son of Valley Eugene and Geneva (Hutton) Mays. He spent his working years as a laborer for Alans. He had a love for singing and sharing his songs. William was a loving husband and father who will be missed dearly.

Survivors include his ex-wife, Joyce Latham; son, William Mays, Jr.; daughters, Heather Mays, Laura Mays; many grandchildren; brother, Harold Mays; and sister, Charlotte Kerrigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Donald and George Mays; sisters, Ruth and Delores Mays.

Williams’s wishes were to be cremated. No services will be held. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with arrangements.
