Herrin- WILLIAM LEE BILL LADD, age 66, left this world on July 3, 2007 doing what he loved best, working on his little ponderosa.
William was born in Herrin on September 16, 1940, the son of Robert and Muriel (Profitt) Ladd. He married Vicki Gregge in Johnston City on February 2, 1960. She survives.
Bill was a retired coal miner, having served thirty years at Zeigler 4, 11 and Kerr McGee mines. He was a local businessman, owning Porkees Rib House in Herrin for over twenty years. Bill was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, the Masons, the American Legion, the Marion Eagles, and was a 32nd Degree Shriner for 36 years.
Bill never met a stranger and was an avid outdoorsman. His passions were fishing, feeding the wildlife, and running his heavy equipment on his little ponderosa, where he enjoyed watching the deer and turkey every morning. He loved spending time with this family and his grandkids and enjoyed his Saturday night dates with his lovely wife on the Marion Eagles dance floor.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, four aunts and four uncles.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Wayne Emery officiating. A eulogy will be given by Bob Jack. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be held from 6-9pm on Friday, July 6, 2007 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Masonic Rites being conducted at 7:00pm on Friday evening.
