William R. McDonald

Herrin- William Richard McDonald, 79, of Herrin died at 9:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 8, 2001 at Herrin Hospital. Mr. McDonald was born on October 19, 1921 in Bloomington, IL to William F. & Margaret (Dougherty) McDonald. He married Sophie M. Driessens on May 31, 1941 in Sterling, IL. She survives of Herrin. William was a millwright for Northwestern Steel & Wire in Sterling, IL until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin. He was also a member of the Herrin Senior Citizens and when able enjoyed playing cards. SURVIVORS: Wife- Sophie M. McDonald- Herrin 3 Sons 5 grandchildren 5 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son; David L. McDonald. A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 11, 2001 at San Carlo Cemetery in Herrin. Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to the Easter Seals and will be accepted at the funeral home.
