Herrin- William T. Queen, age 69, of Herrin, passed away at 9:58am on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at his home.
William was born in Kewanee on December 20, 1948, the son of Charles and Margaret (Donovan) Queen. He honorably served his country for more than 28 years, serving both in the United States Marines and United States Army. Bill retired, holding the rank of Sergeant. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his brother- Charles Joseph Queen of Kewanee
Sister- Mary M. and Terry Crowell of Freeman Spur
Nephew- Michael and Tonia Bean of Herrin
Niece- Valerie and Preston Blake of West Frankfort
Nephew- Dion Queen of Chicago
Great Nephews- Ryan and Ayden Blake of West Frankfort
Great Nieces- Samantha and Madison Bean of Herrin

He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Hospice of Southern Illinois, especially Amanda Bennett, for the care and compassion shown during this difficult time. They would also like to acknowledge Bud Belvile,a service officer from the Veteran’s Affairs Department, for his help and guidance through this process.
A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Herrin American Legion (213 E. Madison Street in Herrin). Military honors will be provided by the Herrin American Legion, Herrin VFW, Carterville American Legion Post 347, and assistance from the National Guard Ritual Team. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is assisting the family with final arrangements. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Mounds National Cemetery.
